(D1 MM) More Important Stuff to Do?

[Varina Ordo]

Although Varina enjoyed a good ambush, the groups had gotten a bit too crowded for her tastes. A bunch of old people with their creaky joints were going to give away her position anyways. So instead of hanging around in the forest, Varina went straight to the pirate's den like Rezzie wanted.

And since she was off-base, Varina did go around in her armor. That combined with her weaponry offered her little in the way of subtlety. Snooping around wasn't part of the goal, however. In fact..

"So what are we doing here?" Varina asked her roommate.

[Meiyokashi]

Rezzie still had her old armor with the Salky Raiders logo still a bit visible under a somewhat new fresh coat of paint. Rezzie didn't have all too much inspiration when it came to actually putting on any new designs to her armor so had asked Varina for colors without telling her why and just spray painted different splashes of color onto her armor. Despite the randomness, or maybe because of it, the suit actually came out looking pretty cool. However, without the rigid doctrine of the Rebuilders to weigh her down she didn't elect to bring her helmet with her. What was the worst that could happen at a bar?

"Uh.. not sure- pirates just kinda sit around and drink a bit right? Let's do that, and see what we see? Maybe we'll catch a fight or.. start one?" she shrugs, flashing her wide smile. "You find us a seat and I'll go get the drinks?"

[Varina Ordo]

"If you want to start a fight, then that's really easy," Varina said with a soft sigh. "But alright, get some drinks. Maybe someone will know something interesting. Useful though? Naw." What would be super cool was that darned Mask. Some randos in some hole weren't who she would place her faith in.

Varina stalked around for her own table. Assuming it wasn't totally packed in the morning, she favored the corner so she could have a vantage on the going-ons. That and she was definitely the sort to put her feet up on the table, make herself real at home, that sort of thing.

Varina would find just such a table, as it was apparent that a lot of the scum and villainy of the galaxy thought a bit like she did and there was a certain aesthetic decision to give folk as much of that seating opportunity as was possible. Rezzie moves off from Varina and toward the main bar, struggling against the others trying to catch Elmira's attention who was moving slower and more certain in the early morning.



However, any sightseeing around the rest of the vagabonds here was cut short when a surprisingly professionally dressed Chiss young woman approaches her, "May I have a word, Mandalorian?" she asks, her accent succinct and military.

"Oh jeez," Varina said. If this other spooky eye lady had some sort of relationship with Rezzie, then this was going to be awkward. Was it worse if she was a family member or a parole officer? "I take one step in here and I'm already needed. Okay, what do you want?"

[Meiyokashi]

With grace she claims the seat opposite Varina. Laying her hands down in her lap, she is the image of a dutiful servant of whatever organization she represents, "You are in a unique position my superior would like to make use of, Varina Ordo. Your association with Req'rez'kosi has been noted, and is advantageous in negotiations with the woman. My superior would ask that you aid us in convincing Miss Req'rez'kosi to return home where she belongs and is needed, as her father misses her dearly," she says, and with a nearly distinct lack of emotion that seems more akin to the rumors of Chiss than her time with Rezzie has ever shown.

A younger Varina would have been happy to have some recognition or noteriety. Now it doubly annoyed her. Laying low was something she enjoyed when in a new hunting ground. The mutual connection to Rezzie, well, made it worse. Even the whole Chiss name thing was annoying. "Kay," Varina said, still not putting her feet down. "What's she needed for? A lot of people want her around but need is a whole different story."

"When her father and mother separated, her mother took her to grow in the Mandalorian culture. Now that her mother is no longer with us, her father is insistent she be granted a better choice of which life path to follow. Considering her fathers commendable stature it would be foolish of her not to consider returning home, she would want for nothing," she explains. Reaching into a satchel she carries with her the woman lays out a datapad detailing mostly the same that the woman had already said but with finer detail accomplished through writing.

Notably, something at the bottom would eventually catch her eye- and when it did the woman adds, "Her father would be willing to of course compensate you for your time. A simple enough fee of ten thousand credits, five for the work entailed and an additional five to show his gratitude for your efforts."

"Well, great, money. That always is a great motivator." Varina glanced around the bar then back at this lovely, new, spooky lady. "Cool. She'll be here soon and then you can give her the pitch. In fact, I think it'd be hard to have missed her coming in if you saw me."

[Meiyokashi]

"We will need you to deliver the pitch, Ms. Ordo. As my superior is rather certain that any approach by myself will be viewed negatively," she says, collecting up the datapad and returning it to her satchel. Only to pull another one, one that appeared of a much cheaper make, and placing that before Varina instead.

"On this datapad you will find the necessary information for where to find us, and a time at which we will be available. As well," she removes a communicator from her satchel and slides that across the table. "With this you should be able to communicate with myself when she is ready to meet."

"Oh great. Guess I'll have some homework to do." Damn. That made her sound too young. She was a real adult now!

Varina didn't make any moves for the datapad yet. Instead, she asked, "Anything else?"

[Meiyokashi]

"That will be all, Ms. Ordo. Thank you for considering this task, and we look forward to hearing back from you," she says, and with professional delivery and rises from the table. Turning to Varina she offers a somewhat perfunctory farewell and departs before Rezzie might return, unless Varina would stop her for something more.

Once the weirdo was out of sight, Varina considered kicking the datapad off the table and leaving it at that. Ugh, Rezzie probably wants to hear about this. So she kept to her best behavior and waited.

[Rezzie]

Varina would wait a few minutes more, long enough that she was liable to get bored but eventually Rezzie returned with the drinks. Plopping a pitcher down nearish to Varina, a cup in front of her, and another one closer to the edge. Without much fanfare she sits in beside Varina stealing the outer seat so they were shoulder to shoulder at the big table rather than yelling across it.

"You won't believe how much trouble that was," she groans, throwing her head back and sighing dramatically. "First, I go up there and I can't push through these two arsewipes that won't get outta my way. One of them even smelled way bad, ya know? Then- I had to flag down the lady for like five minutes," she sighs, much more softly. "She was nice though, and cute. So, whatever. Anyway, she chatted with me a bit and that was nice- but kriff me it took longer than I thought, so now I'm here, sorry for the wait," she says, a touch sheepishly but much too confident to let that shine through too much.

Waiting was definitely boring even if she did have stuff to consider. She didn't even stir when Rezzie got back, instead only scooting a bit so the Chiss could get comfy. It wasn't like Varina was totally heartless...

"You didn't want to start the fight then?" she asked. "Lots of opportunities there. Anyways, I'm glad you had a good talk since you're not going to like the one I had." She tapped her foot close to the forsaken datapad. "Some lady came in behalf of your dad. Wants you back home."

[Rezzie]

"Huh.. yea I guess I could--" she stops when she realizes what else Varina said that moment where the words really sank in and the meaning took hold. Glancing to Varina she gave that quick check she wasn't messing around with her but she looked legit.

"Kriffing what??" she laughs, loudly and more out of surprise than any real amusement. Shock, in it's own little way. "Nah, no thanks. I'm totally good," she sets her hands to motion pouring their glasses at least.

"What do you wanna do about this whole Empire thing, anyway, we just waiting to hit 'em when they come or what?"

[Varina Ordo]

"Yeah, figures you'd say all that. She offered money to help talk you into it, which never sounds great." Even after all that, Varina slipped her feet down and sat a little bit more like a normal person. "It's a lot like a gilded cage, right? You'd be safe but, well, we wouldn't be here right now if that's what we wanted."

Her eyes returned to the datapad. "We'll figure out the Empire with the rest of them. This, though," she said, wagging her finger at the whole dad situation. "I feel like it's going to come biting back later."

[Rezzie]

Rezzie's gaze drifted away, a sour look resting on her features. All the while thoughts of the whole meaning of what that datapad and the ask entailed swung around in her mind. Offering money? That's heavy. Whatever anywa---

Breaking from the thought, Rezzie half-turns to Varina, "Oh yea?", she starts, a little tease to her tone. "Didn't know you were an expert on this kinda stuff?" She chuckles, smiling. "No, yea, you're probably right though, right? I mean.. kriff, if that lady found us here that's a whole lotta effort right?"

"I mean, my dad wanted me to come back to." Part of her missed the clothes he'd gotten her right now. Still, armor had come in handy plenty of times. "He has less money and less, well, hired stalkers though. So yeah, I'd say I know a little about it." Varina smiled back, one of her awkward ones to show that she was supportive... Which never came easy from her.

"And just a gut instinct if she found us here of all places, then people will keep coming. I'd say it was a good guess on her part but we are kind of predictable at this point." Varina leaned back and let out a heavy sigh. "Are we like super lame now?"

[Rezzie]

"It gets a little weird at the hired stalkers part tho, right?" she notes, half-chuckling while looking away. That awkward shift to her, pulling her hands a little closer and grabbing her cup. Feet coming up to rest on the support of the table beneath, pushing herself back into the back of the booth to get that firm support of something behind her. A passing glance shared to Varina but a bead of panic turning her away from that flash of an idea, pulling her cup closer up toward herself but not drinking yet.

"Action heroes are kinda predictable too right? Like- yea, they're gonna figure out some way to save the day so you can expect it or somethin' but you don't really know how? They usually ain't that lame," she adds with a shrug. "Maybe we're kinda like that?"
