[D0 LM] The Doctor Is In (Doc Bay)

Fé swung around the the door frame leading into the clinic in high spirits. It was nice to be home, back with her people, now freshly supplied. Though the call from one of the doctors did make her wonder if something had been overlooked, or usage ended up higher than expected.

She cast about the clinic curiously, eyes seeking out Jan Ordo.

"I have been summoned! To what do I owe the pleasure?"

Inside the doc bay the space was immaculately kept- though Ral Ordo's personality would seem to suggest that this was a difficult task it was well maintained by both siblings. Though, as always, it was Jan whom with personality matching desired it kept as orderly and clean as possible. Both of the siblings being known for their actual doctorates they carried from some fancy college back on Coruscant it was hardly unexpected that they would have such a degree of expectations. Entering into the space Fé finds that she has caught Jan alone for the moment, half-busy sorting through a new intake of supplies from a recent run done by one of the many returners. Fé herself might have even brought in some of this stuff.

Cataloguing and sorting the intake as efficiently as breathing, and with no greater need for concentration, Jan answers the woman at her door without even looking away from her task. "Curiosity, pleasure. I have a question for you that I have not bothered to yet ask, Kelborn. Care to listen?" she asks, her voice as clean as her bay.

"I'm happy to fulfill either of those. Ask away. I am your very own Encyclopedia Fé," she replied with a smile, finding a rolling chair and sitting in it backward before actually approaching Jan... via rolling. She wasn't going to mess up her space by sitting in some weird spot, but far be it for her to sit normally. Noting what she was doing as she got closer, she did ask first. "Although, how's the intake? Anything on your list we didn't manage to bring in?"

"Not as much as I'd like," but she never had as much as she liked. Once you grow up going to school on Coruscant 'overwhelmingly enough in case of the worst' was what quickly became the minimum- and she was probably never going to manage that being with the enclave. Shifting a little so that she can focus more on her guest. Jan methodically dashes each hand against one another to brush them off a bit, to feel like she did something, and settles in with arms crossed.

"Frankly, we could use a lot more bacta. If this goes much longer than a few days we're going to be stacking up injured faster than I- or my brother- can work. No one should get left behind with what we have, but a few might be in a bit more pain than I would otherwise prefer. Nevertheless," she says, breathing in deep and exhaling slow. "Not something that will be solved by complaining about it. Time is better spent otherwise. When you left home, did you leave behind loved ones? Family."

Fé slid out her datapad and put a few things in. "Well, I can at least see what we can do about that. If we're heading into trouble, like you said, we may be hurting more than we should without it."

She leaned forward into the chair back a little more, resting her chin on her forearms. "Well, when I left to become a handmaiden, I still had my parents. By the time I left Naboo entirely a few years later, I had some extended family, but no one I really knew. Mostly just people to be contentious with me about inheritance." She rolled her eyes a little, but without any real rancor. That was 20 years ago at this point, after all.

"Ral wants to return to see our father," she says, releasing it like a secret that was unbearable to keep any longer. Exasperated by this, she sighs with that tone of disgust she seems to always manage a little too well that it actually was appealing to the ear. Looking away from Fé as if she was admitting something embarrassing, "I had hoped that perhaps you might have some understanding of the situation. Though, I fear you are even greater in distance from your family than I. I know them far too well, and hate them dearly. Ral oft seems convinced that we should grant our blood a chance to change with how the galaxy has been changing," she sighs, letting it go.

"My apologies, this is more than I would share with others. I shall be sure to retain it better. I had simply thought.. perhaps hoped that your own situation might better mirror my own departure from home," she offers, looking back to Fé with a sheepish smile.

"I appreciate that you shared it with me. I may not be a perfect mirror to your situation, but I'm always happy to listen. If I end up being able to help a bit, bonus," she replied with a smile, all warmth. "I'd like to think we're friends, so don't feel like you need to 'retain' anything."

"Anyway... I might be able to give some perspective, at least. My wife had a lot of contention with her family, so I'm not wholly unfamiliar with the dynamics. Is there anything in particular that changed to make him want to see your father after all this time?"

"My brother is a proud idiot," she says with a harshness to it that buries the lead that she quickly capitalizes on, "And he would not wish to admit that the Empire clearly now hunting us with greater desire has affected him mentally," she sighs, releasing just a small iota of that tension she held in her shoulders.

"I suspect that this is the case. Feeling the threat of being hunted, my brother has a desire to reach out to family. Why he has chosen our father after what he put him through is beyond my ken," she says, grimacing as she looks away to hide her snarl. "I.. do understand the desire, of course. This threat is rather real. Family, however, our father is not."

"So, that sense of being hunted leading to a desire to reconnect... Maybe because the danger is higher, which means that he might not have another chance?" She asked after listening carefully. "I don't know... I think I kinda get it. It's difficult to think objectively about family. The concept, the individuals that are part of it, blood, adopted, whatever. I probably look back at mine with a more rosy view than might be deserved. My wife had some really hard views about child-rearing because of hers."

Not that we had a chance to put them into practice, but... Took a long breath and let it out through her nose. It was what it was.

"And I have a rather impeccable sense of boundaries and what is owed between people because of mine," she quips with a sharpness that makes the delivery whip-like. Sighing a little, as she is all too aware it is a touch unfair.

"I understand it, certainly. I am.. I am simply surprised that Ral can forgive our father for how much pressure he put on him to marry well in the past. Marketing him off like we were an Alderaanian family with the prettiest daughter in all the nobility," she sneers in disgust at the thought.

"They are.. impressively blurred lines. I am-" she struggles saying this. "I am attempting to grant my brother the benefit and speak with others before I categorically deny any desire to see my father again."

She winced a little at the tone, but she knew it wasn't personal, at least. Just a sensitive subject. "That's good. I'm not trying to criticize here, just understand where you're both coming from," she replied, taking a kind tone rather than snapping back. It would do the opposite of help right now. "Honestly, it's pretty big of you to give the benefit at all, all things considered."

Jan gazes forward blankly for a moment, realization dawning, "Sorry." Came a short, and slightly terse reply. "My.. aggression and tone was not directed at you. I simply have quite the lack of care for my father and have a difficult time speaking on it without feeling those emotions."

A slight smile, cold and a little hard to form but she puts in the effort for her companion, "But thank you, for listening and your words. I am.. glad to be heard."

She shook her head. "It's fine, it happens. There's a few people I'd probably get that upset about if the subject came up," she replied with a smile. "Still, it sounds... rough, to say the least. I'm glad I could at least listen. I'm always happy to do that if you need or want it."

"I was thinking, maybe I should listen to Ral about it, too, if he's willing. Who knows, maybe an outside perspective might help."

Jan narrows her eyes ahead on some distant object, or perhaps it was merely the space before her. Not like her focus was actually on anything that physical, as she considered greatly, "I.. would be amazed if you managed. As a reminder," she says, the strength of her coreworlds accent poking through, "my brother is not a man who would admit to such things easily. Nor is he like to talk with you about them- I am much the easier one in that regard.and-", she pauses, smiling barely.

Amusing, after all,.considering how.infrequently she herself spoke of anything personal.

"You are certainly welcome to try, of course," she adds like a punctuation mark.

She shrugged. "Yeah. I don't know. I might just be poking my nose where it doesn't belong again. Long habit."

"I would trust your decision regardless," she offers simply, the reassurance of earnesty in the tone of her reply. Shifting away from her rested position Jan returns to work cataloguing the new intake.

"I hear Praxton is intending to help the colonists nearby," she offers, glancing briefly to catch Fé's eye. "Perhaps you might venture out with him when the time comes? I am certain grateful colonists might well share the resources we will desperately need given the opportunity. Should you manage an opinion of that new one, the woman he married, in the interaction," she considers, shrugs. "Well, I would be interested to hear about it sometime, mm?"

She nodded, thoughtful. "Might not be a bad idea. I've been meaning to get a sense for the newbies, anyway. Good a place to start as any."

Well, she had a secondary interest, but that was neither here nor there.

She spun around in the chair. "I'll find some time to let you know how it goes."

"You will know where to find me when," she says half distracted by her task and tone indicating as much. Without any other inputs Jan would simply fall into her work and become absorbed by it. Shifting without thought for the act of properly ending a conversation. It was her way, as any would know. Though, as a younger member herself- albeit not super young in comparison to the true newbies- she sometimes still got kriff for it.

Anyone who has ever been on her table, however, would understand well that it is not from a lack of care. Simply, her priorities are most on maintaining their health and not necessarily their view on her.

"Yup. Have a good one, Jan," sid, getting up and returning the seat to its place before heading out.

Minutes after Fé had left, Jan mutters off, "Have a good one," before being consumed in her work once more.

/scene, thank you!
