(D0 Morning - The Vault) The First Mark

As part of her recent arrival to the Enclave, Varina needed to acclimate herself to the place. She wasn't much for guided tours so she only brought Rezzie along to take in the sights.

General amenities didn't garner her interest. A mysterious door, on the other hand, definitely did. Since she wasn't one to lounge around in armor, Varina kept her hands buried in her jacket's pockets as she checked the nooks and crannies. There didn't seem to be any way she could squeeze herself in. "If we can't find a way to open this up, then do you think blowing it up would work?" Not that she had any heavy duty explosives on her... nor did she have money to buy them. But who needed money anyways to get stuff?

Before them was the impressive, and ancient vault. Doors made of an ancient steel that seemed to not only stand the test of time but excelled even to this day. Thick, though not incredibly so and yet seeming resilient beyond what its apparent thickness might suggest. In the nearish presence of this door there was a strange sense of foreboding, a darkness lingering just behind it- a chill in the air. However, that could also probably just because the room wasn't all that well lit up and the lower level it sat at was deeper than the rest of the structure and thus naturally cooler.

Sat on the stairs backwards so her back was flat on the ground and she appeared the image of sitting right-side up if the world just turned over to meet her Rezzie was relaxing in similar casual affair. Another one of Varina's jackets neatly set off to the side she had underneath the usual bodysleeve worn under Mandalorian armor but a pair of sturdier black pants on over that, with a bar of thick dark boots to really complete the image. Leaning her head back she was able to awkwardly look across the floor and a little upward at the seemingly upside down Varina.

"Maybe.. but we might also just bring the whole place down with us. Could be kinda neat though," she says, stifling a little yawn with the back of her hand.

Whenever Varina saw Rezzie in one of her jackets, her heart swelled with mixed emotion. That was hers, after all. Years of being without a stable home had left her defensive over anything she could claim as hers. That and a thief knew how much other people stole. At the same time, she liked having some sort of marker, almost like ownership. But that would imply that their relationship was something super important. It was casual. It needed to be casual.

Whatever. She needed to focus on the task at hand. "We could always evacuate the base. Well, we'd have to figure out some excuse... Or maybe we'll do it if this whole place gets lit up by the Empire." That would mean that most of the Rebuilders would be dead, of course, a prospect that she wasn't enthused by. "We'd have to come back later for it."

"Heh, maybe if we come back later for it the Empire will even leave some of their big toys behind?" she suggests, already losing herself into that idea. Resting more her head relaxes so that she's facing forward, toward the ceiling. "I always wonder what those like.. walker things? Whatever they are, they kinda look neat. Maybe we can snag one of them and.." she pauses, sighing. "Guess one of those wouldn't fit in here- but a joy ride in one would be cool."

"The, up, chicken looking things?" Varina asked as she pulled out her rapier. With care, she jabbed at the wall, wondering if she could somehow stab enough places that the door would just... fall over. "If we ever found one of those lightsabers, then it'd be easy to get into here. Would also be good for getting into walkers." She looked back at Rezzie, a bit of nostalgia in her eyes. "You think my mom has any? She must have killed at least one Jedi in her time."

Sounds of armored boots could be heard coming closer, in an even and calm pace.

Raven had heard that Varina had returned, and asking around she pieced together where the young Mandalorian might have gone. Of course, the little troublemaker would go straight to the locked off places. At least she hadn't gone to the restricted areas. Yet.

"And I thought Ca'tra got into all sorts of places she wasn't supposed to be..." the tall woman chuckled with some amusement. Varina was almost more cat than the actual cat.

Over the last few months, Varina had practiced her draw and consequently her stow. That did not mean that she was any better at it now, though. Even Rezzie's help hadn't been enough.

So when Raven made her appearance, Varina failed to slyly stow away her rapier. "Oh hey, Raven," she said as she continued to awkwardly fidget with it. "Is that critter still hanging around?"

Varina sighed and looked away. "Well, I don't know, shouldn't I be allowed to go anywhere in the base? I mean, maybe it's not explicitly somewhere I'm supposed to be..."

"She's around, yeah. Made herself right at home." Which was an interesting thing to consider how much alike Varina and Ca'tra were, yet the actual feline had decided to settle down, unlike its human counterpart.

With a smile, Raven stepped closer and held out an arm for Varina in the offer of a hug or a handshake, whatever she would prefer. "Well no one's managed to get into this vault yet. As for off-limits... don't let Veth catch you in the repair bay unsupervised, she might have your head."

"I would have thought that she would have stuck with Manny and his Many Girlfriends," Varina said. By now, referring to his partners was more out of disgust than outright shock. Such a weird dude!

It would definitely be a rare sight for Rezzie to see Varina willingly hug anyone. That didn't mean that she was super bubbly about it, though. "Yeah, well, I don't really need to hang out in there anyways." Her eyes shifted back towards the vault. "So what? Do we have to fill out certain things like a puzzle? Rezzie doesn't think that we can just explode the door."

Raven on the other hand seemed to be a natural hugger, and gave Varina an affectionate pat on the back before letting her go. "It's good to see you again. And you too, Rezzie." The Chiss she didn't know as well as Varina, though... yeah, she had good memories of the girl, knowing she had a good head on her shoulders and could tell the truth when need be. She had done as much for Raven at least.

"As for this... I dunno," she gestured vaguely to the door. "Don't think explosives will be the solution, otherwise Lysa would've already popped this open. Maybe it needs a specific key or password?"

"Or a lightsaber!" Rezzie puts back on the table again, quite enthused with Varina's idea. Though her face contorts a little at the thought again, sighing, "But- yea no, I don't know anyone who'd have one," she says, meeting Varina's eyes for a moment to confirm the earlier question.

"Oh- and hey Raven. Gotta say, you look way different upside down like this," she adds with a snort.

"I do," the individuals voice creeps into the conversation from half-way up the stairwell. Standing with their hands linked in front of their stomach the robed figure looks across each of the others present. An almost eerie sense of them being present and yet not pierces through the moment. An adventurous mind would think to venture a swipe through their torso to check they were actually physically even there.

Of course, they were.

"You will not pierce it with such a means, however. I can offer you that much solace to your thoughts."

"Uhuh," Varina murmured when Raven expressed her thoughts on reuniting. "I, well, I'm glad to see you too." Saying that much was like declawing a cat but... Sometimes she could behave.

"Lightsabers, keys, passwords... Well, the next question is if there're some stupid, old books lying around. Someone has to have left some sort of record around here."

Varina looked over at the newcomer. "Who the...?" She scratched the back of her head then looked at Raven for guidance on the matter.

Raven glanced back over her shoulder to confirm, but the voice that made the hair on the back of her neck stand up was actually more than enough.

"Ah, uh... Varina, this is a guest of Mandalore," she explained to the younger Mandalorian. It was awkward. She didn't quite understand who the Rattataki was, or why they were there, but she'd been told that it was an honored guest of Mandalore. Something she really wanted to question. "The door can withstand a lightsaber? That's... pretty impressive."

Couldn't those weapons cut through almost everything except the finest beskar?

"When you face against legions of those who wield such weapons you must learn how to reinforce your vaults," they say akin to the method of a detached instructor who'd reached tenure years ago and now merely continues on because they don't know how else to be.

"I can open it, in time. Your Mandalore has bound me to my promise to aid him before he allows that, and my word is bond."

Varina kept her hands buried in her pant pockets, closest to her knife, of course. On top of that, she did slink behind Raven out of habit. "What about cutting around it then? Ah, well, not like you'd let me just borrow your lightsaber, huh?"

There was another type of borrowing, one that didn't involve permission. For now, she wasn't planning on it, though. Seemed like Raven tolerated the weirdo's presence enough.

"You are cute, young one," Irizka notes, cracking the barest hint of a smile on their lips.

With Irizka standing near her feet, Rezzie didn't much seem to care for laying on the ground like she'd been. Shifting onto her shoulder first before turning fully so she can face proper toward Raven and Varina. In a move similar to V she takes a few steps toward her fellow Mandalorians but in a manner that she hopes calls as little attention to herself as possible. Leaning up on the wall nearest Varina, she casts a glance from her to the newcomer and back again.

"I'm not cute," Varina said, clearly quite grumpy over the moniker. She looked at both Raven and Rezzie, eyes flaring up. "I'm not cute at all."

"I mean I think you're-" she starts a little teasingly, and then shies away from committing to it when she catches sight of Irizka again. Rezzie's eyes just happening to catch Irizka's for a moment turning the slight flush to Rezzie's cheek into a full blown retreat.

Half stepping back, she hardens a little and digs in a bit with her boots heel, "More like.. badass anyway, right?" she adds, focusing more on Varina.
