Known as Kyr'tsad in Mando'a, the Death Watch was founded by Tor Vizsla in 60BBY. The founding was in response to Jaster Mereel's actions as Mandalore. Mereel wanted Mandalorians to conduct themselves as honorable mercenaries, and follow his Supercommando Codex and its radical changes. Something that Tor Vizsla and those who joined the Death Watch disagreed with, as they wanted the Mandalorians to return to the ways of the ancient Mandalorians; raiders and savages that would eventually wage a second war of conquest across the galaxy. These two groups, the Death Watch and Jaster Mereel's True Mandalorians, eventually resulted in civil war.

With the death of both Jaster Mereel and Tor Vizsla, both sides were ultimately losers at the end of the civil war, and the New Mandalorians now were the biggest faction to claim leadership and control. The remaining members of the Death Watch were exiled to the moon of Concordia by the New Mandalorians, and were assumed to be extinct. They would later return as terrorists toppling the New Mandalorian government, led by Pre Vizsla, and later Maul. Now in recent times they have rebranded themselves as the Mandalorian Super commandos.

The Death Watch care not for any honorable ideals, as their philosophy is a simple one; to be feared and ruthless warriors, the best in the galaxy. Even by Mandalorian standards, they are violent and barbaric. Their vision is for the galaxy to be engulfed in glorious war once more with a second Mandalorian Crusade.
